Water-Energy-Food Nexus: Critical Review, Practical Applications, and Prospects for Future Research

This paper presents knowledge gaps and critiques on the water–energy–food (WEF) nexus that have emerged since concept of WEF was proposed by World Economic Forum Bonn 2011 Conference. Furthermore, this study analyses current innovations concept, applications, impacts during period 2012–2020. begins reviewing ten frameworks developed international organizations researchers. On basis, several omissions in are obvious almost all frameworks. Studies start to address some these analysed, but they relatively few do not gaps. Several improvements identified narrow put into practical implementation resources management governance. Four principles perspective “from local global” for future framework development analysis suggested ensure security water, energy, food can be achieved sustainably communities. will improve impact national global ambitions security.
